Follow this sequence to give your motor a factory-fresh start in minutes:

Power Isolation
Phase 1
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet or entirely remove the battery pack before performing any internal maintenance.

Access the Brush Holders
Phase 2
Depending on your tool, unscrew the external black plastic caps on the motor flanks or remove the rear housing cover to expose the brush setup.

Extract Worn Brushes
Phase 3
Gently release the tension spring or unplug the small spade/ring connector. Slide the old worn brush out and blow compressed air into the slot to clear out accumulated carbon dust.

Insert & Seating Run
Phase 4
Slide the new Metabo brush (31604069) into place, attach the wire connector, and reset the spring. Reassemble the housing, then run the tool with no load for 2-3 minutes to allow the new carbon to seat perfectly against the commutator.
